My Journey
Hello.
I grew up on a farm in a rural part of Northern Maine. My sisters and I didn’t have any close neighbors but we did have hundreds of acres of fields and forest to explore everyday. It's here, where I developed my appreciation for nature and learning through experiences and adventure.
I went to college and focused on things that I was passionate about, art history, gender studies and studio art. After graduating, I got a grant to work at an art gallery in St. Louis, MO and I found time to work with children and teach rock climbing.
From there I started shifting my careers toward teaching and it brought me around the world. I helped students improve their academics through art-infused classes in Belgium. I Lived over two years in a small village in West Africa teaching life skills to girls. I Instructed art to elementary students in Nigeria. I’ve flown around Asia giving art portfolio preparation presentations. In the United States, My natural inclinations have led me to jobs where I’ve taught in more capacities than I can remember including, instructing tennis, soccer, hockey, and rock climbing, camp counseling, college TA, gallery guide, community mentoring, to name a few. I like to use this background to bring a diverse assortment of ideas and strategies to my teaching.
